Clinical Intensive  Limited enrollment cohort experience with Dr. Thom

MANP is proud to bring Dr. Dickson Thom to Montana for an immersive clinical intensive available exclusively to Fall Conference attendees. This limited-enrollment experience provides a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of naturopathic medicine's most respected teachers through extended instruction, case-based discussion, and practical clinical application.

Beginning Friday at 10 am, intensive participants will spend the weekend learning alongside Dr. Thom through a series of extended teaching sessions, small-group discussions, and clinical case reviews. In addition to Friday's intensive and Saturday morning instruction, the cohort will enjoy an exclusive Saturday evening dinner and clinical session before concluding with a collaborative case integration panel on Sunday.

The Dr. Thom Intensive program is in-person only.

As precision medicine continues to evolve, genomics and systems biology are providing new opportunities to refine the application of traditional naturopathic therapies. This presentation explores how genomic insights can enhance individualized care while remaining grounded in the principles of naturopathic medicine.

Dr. Martinez examines the integration of genomic data with systems-based clinical reasoning to personalize interventions such as circadian biology, photobiomodulation and therapeutic light exposure, hydrotherapy, physical activity, and targeted nutrition. Participants will gain a practical framework for translating biologic variability into evidence-informed lifestyle medicine strategies that strengthen resilience, optimize physiologic function, and support long-term health outcomes

Dickson Thom, ND

Foundations First: What Fifty Years of Practice Has Taught Me About Recovery

Drawing on decades of clinical experience and continued discovery, Dr. Dickson Thom has reached a simple conclusion: successful treatment depends less on the diagnosis itself than on the patient's physiologic capacity to recover. Regardless of whether the condition is autoimmune disease, cancer, chronic fatigue, or another complex illness, the body's foundation must be understood before therapies can achieve their full potential.

Using the analogy of building a house, Dr. Thom explores the physiologic groundwork that supports healing—including organ development, autonomic function, cellular hydration, energy production, and the movement of water inside and outside the cell. He discusses why patients with vastly different diagnoses often share common physiologic barriers, why timing matters as much as treatment selection, and why there are few "bad" therapies—only therapies applied before the body is ready to respond.

Attendees will leave with a renewed appreciation for the physiologic foundations that influence recovery across every practice style and patient population.

Panel - Beyond Diagnosis: Applying Adaptive Physiology to Complex Cases

The conference concludes with a collaborative clinical capstone as Dr. Dickson Thom and moderator Dr. Lou Walters bring together the concepts explored throughout the weekend—and the Friday intensive—for a practical discussion centered on real patient cases.

Drawing from faculty cases, before-and-after clinical outcomes, physiologic assessments, and selected cases submitted by intensive participants, the panel will demonstrate how a foundation-first approach can reveal barriers to recovery that may be overlooked when treatment focuses primarily on diagnosis.
Cases may include autoimmune disease, Parkinson's disease, trigeminal neuralgia, chronic pain, and other treatment-resistant conditions, illustrating how physiologic assessment can help clinicians prioritize treatment and better understand why some patients improve while others plateau.

Heather Zwickey, PhD

The Stress–Gut–Immune Triangle: A Systems View of Autoimmune Activation

Autoimmune disease does not begin in isolation. It emerges from a dynamic conversation between the brain, the gut, and the immune system. While trauma plays a well-established role in autoimmune disease, it is rarely addressed as part of clinical treatment.

In this presentation, Dr. Heather Zwickey explores how psychological stress reshapes the microbiome, alters intestinal permeability, and activates cytokine pathways that can tip the balance toward immune dysregulation. Drawing on current research, she presents a systems-level framework for understanding why chronic stress, trauma, and gut dysfunction so often precede autoimmune activation.
Participants will leave with practical, evidence-informed strategies to recognize these interconnected pathways and incorporate approaches that restore resilience and interrupt the autoimmune cycle.

Harry Adelson, ND

Dr. Adelson is an internationally recognized pioneer in regenerative medicine and one of the earliest physicians in the United States to integrate stem cell therapies into the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain. A graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, he completed a residency in integrative medicine at Yale/Griffin Hospital before founding Docere Clinics in Park City, Utah. He has dedicated his practice exclusively to regenerative injection therapies since 2002. Dr. Adelson has performed more than 7,000 bone marrow and adipose-derived cell procedures and is among the most experienced clinicians using orthobiologic therapies for spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. An accomplished educator and advocate, he has played a leading role in advancing the clinical practice and regulatory recognition of regenerative medicine within naturopathic medicine. He continues to teach physicians internationally on the safe, evidence-informed use of biologic therapies.

Nick Labinsky, CEO

B.J. Ho, DO, FACOG

B.J. Ho, DO, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with expertise in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy, and integrative medicine. After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University–Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006, he completed his OB/GYN residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in 2010.
For 14 years, Dr. Ho practiced full-spectrum obstetrics and gynecology as a physician partner at Estrella Women's Health Center in Phoenix, Arizona. During that time, he also served as a physician speaker for AbbVie, a Da Vinci Robotic Surgery Proctor for Intuitive Surgical, and a CME lecturer for the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association and the Flagstaff Osteopathic Medical Association. His hospital leadership roles have included service on the Medical Executive Committee, Ethics Committee, Credentialing Committee, and Physician Leadership Group at Abrazo West Campus.

In 2019, Dr. Ho became an EvexiPEL-certified practitioner with EVEXIAS Health Solutions and was among the inaugural physicians certified in EVEXIAS Peptide Therapy. He subsequently expanded his practice to include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy, and other integrative approaches that emphasize long-term health optimization. In 2025, he transitioned to a practice focused exclusively on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and integrative medicine.

Hillary Lampers, ND

With nearly two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Lampers is widely recognized for her expertise in hormonal health and whole-person naturopathic medicine. Her work integrates naturopathic physical medicine and regenerative therapies within a systems-based approach to patient care. She focuses on the complex relationships among hormonal health, metabolism, neurologic function, and lifestyle, with particular attention to the physiologic changes associated with hormonal transitions.

Teresita Martinez, ND

Dr. Martinez combines a strong foundation in biochemistry with evidence-informed naturopathic medicine to deliver systems-based clinical care. Her clinical focus includes women's health, hormone physiology, and pediatrics, with expertise in genomics, systems biology, and advanced laboratory testing. Dr. Martinez integrates emerging scientific advances with the foundational principles of nature cure to develop evidence-informed therapeutic strategies that support physiologic function, resilience, and long-term health. She is recognized for translating advances in genomics and systems biology into practical clinical applications for naturopathic practice.

Dickson Thom, ND

Dr. Thom has more than 50 years of experience as a clinician, educator, and author. After earning his dental degree from the University of Toronto, he pursued naturopathic medical education at the Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine and the National College of Naturopathic Medicine. He later served as Dean of Naturopathic Medicine and spent more than 25 years as a full-time professor. A recipient of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians' prestigious Vis Award, Dr. Thom has lectured internationally for decades on biological medicine, chronic disease, and the healing power of nature. He is the author of five books and continues to practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a clinical focus on chronic illness, autoimmune disease, neurologic disorders, gastrointestinal health, and endocrine conditions.

Dr. Lou Walters, ND

Dr. Walters is President of the Montana Association of Naturopathic Physicians and host of the 2026 Montana Naturopathic Fall Conference. He will join Dr. Dickson Thom in facilitating the conference's special Clinical Intensive, offering attendees an interactive opportunity to explore complex cases, foundational physiology, and practical clinical application in a small-group setting.

With more than three decades of clinical experience, Dr. Walters has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to advancing the naturopathic profession through leadership, education, and mentorship. His clinical focus includes chronic disease, endocrine and metabolic health, nutrition, botanical medicine, and individualized therapeutic strategies. A frequent lecturer and educator, Dr. Walters is recognized for translating complex clinical concepts into practical approaches that physicians can readily incorporate into clinical practice.

Heather Zwickey, PhD

Dr. Zwickey is recognized internationally as an expert and educator in the fields of integrative medicine, natural therapies, and the immune system. Dr. Zwickey has been leading natural medicine research for more than 20 years. She earned her PhD in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Colorado and completed her postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as a principal investigator on multiple NIH-funded research grants and has authored more than 100 scientific publications. An award-winning educator, Dr. Zwickey teaches at the National University of Natural Medicine and currently serves as Vice President of Research and Academic Excellence and Chief Academic Officer. Her research focuses on Parkinson's disease, nutrition, neuroinflammation, the microbiome, and the gut-brain axis.
